A Mortar and Pestle is a very useful piece of equipment for grinding down all kinds of seeds, nuts and roots. Using hot coals to burn out the mortar cup is an effective method, this technique can also be used for making all kinds of bowls and utensils. If you don't have a crook knife/ spoon knife, maybe this is the answer.

In this tutorial I am burning a deep mortar cup suitable for processing and grinding small edible seeds. These can be added into home made breads and biscuits.
